Lester Prairie
Minnesota

Lester Prairie is a growing community in McLeod County.

There is fun for all ages in Lester Prairie. The City has expanded its park system to include a new 53-acre nature park.

Summer activities get underway with a three-day celebration known as Longhorn Days in June.

The event is put on by the Longhorn Days Committee and community volunteers. The festival is city-wide and has a number of fun activities for all ages.

New Housing Developments

A new development called East Park Estates will add many new homes to the community. Located on McLeod County Road 9 near Sunrise Park, it offers both single-family homes and town homes.

Another housing development, Prairie Ridge, is located on the town’s southeast edge on McLeod County Road 9, overlooking the Crow River.

Quality Education

Lester Prairie School District 424 is comprised of about 450 students. The high school averages about 40 students per grade, while the elementary school averages 17 per class. There are approximately 80 non-resident students enrolled.

Junior and senior high school students have an opportunity to utilize technologies directly in their education. This includes programs in computer-aided drafting, broadcast journalism, broadcast production technology and tech prep curricula. In fact, development of these programs are, in part, influenced by a technology committee made up of staff and local residents to establish needs for the future.

Growing Commercial District

Lester Prairie's major employers include: Worldwide Dispensers, Poly Foam, Inc., Alamo SMC, and Lester Buildings -- one of the top three largest manufacturers of engineered, wood-frame building systems in the United States.
